About the Role
We are seeking a seasoned Automotive Controller to join a dynamic and growing automotive dealership in Corona, CA. This is a key leadership role responsible for guiding the dealership's financial health, ensuring accurate reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with all regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate brings deep automotive dealership experience and a proactive, hands-on approach to financial management and strategic decision-making.
As Automotive Controller, you will partner closely with the General Manager and department leaders to drive profitability, streamline operations, and support long-term growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all dealership accounting and financial operations, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and compliance
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash flow, and general ledger functions
- Supervise payroll processing and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support strategic planning
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls to safeguard dealership assets
- Collaborate with department managers to analyze performance, control costs, and improve profitability
- Ensure compliance with automotive industry requirements, including OEM standards, flooring, and sales tax reporting
- Serve as a trusted financial advisor to ownership and executive leadership
- Support audits and work with external accountants, lenders, and OEM representatives as needed
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Automotive dealership accounting experience strongly preferred
- In-depth knowledge of dealership financials, including parts, service, F&I, and inventory accounting
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel (advanced skills preferred)
- Strong understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial reporting
- CPA or equivalent certification is a plus
- Exceptional analytical skills with strong attention to detail
- Proven leadership ability with excellent communication and collaboration skills
